So I made a Doctor’s appointment the next day. She just sent me to get a blood test and we did another pregnancy test – Yep we are having a baby! I had to then wait until the New Year to get my results. I went to the doctors on Monday 2nd January 2012. The doctor said that my bloods were fine and that everything was looking great. She said that I was about 5 weeks by that time.
After you find out your pregnant nothing really happens until you’re about 12 weeks. Doctors don’t really want to see you before then – so you are just left to look after yourself until 12 weeks come around– It feelings like a million weeks away at the time.
I have a few good Apps on my iphone that tells me what’s going on every week but it’s not enough you just want to know they your baby is ok. So it got the better of me when I was about 8 weeks. I read that at this time you are able to start hearing the heartbeat. So I hired a Doppler, just for a month. As soon as I got home I was on the bed trying it. Before I tried it out I washed a few youtube videos of women showing how to use the machine.
So my husband was with me on the bed and I slowing starting moving the probe around. And there is was – only took a few minutes to find – it was beating really fast and it was loud. It was an amazing sound. Every week or so I have a listen – its really nice to hear and it feels like your bonding.
By the time I was about 9 weeks I rang my Gyno and explained that I had fallen pregnant. (I had been seeing him for a while as I have PCOS) He offered me- if I wanted to- to come in for a scan. As if I would say NO!! So I was booked in and I couldn’t wait!! I was a bit upset as Khyam couldn’t be there as he couldn’t get out of work. L
It was the morning of the 8th February. I was 10 weeks today. I was soo nervous. I just couldn’t wait to see my little bub growing inside of me – I hope that he or she was doing fine.
The doctor spoke to me for a little while just about when my last period was and how far along I was. (but I already knew as I have been using my ibaby apps) Then we went into the examination room. I lay on the bed looking at the screen. He starts to look into my uterus. And there she(or he) is – right in the front of the screen. One healthy looking baby! It was bouncing round in my tummy with its arms beside its head. We could clearly see the heartbeat. We couldn’t hear it but we could see it – it was moving soo fast! Then the doctor locked on the image and began to measure the baby – with this tool on the computer he could determine the EDD by the size the baby was. The baby measured 2.73cm which gave us a due date of the 9th September 2012. I was only a few days off. Instead of 10weeks, I was actually 9weeks and 3days. As he moved the probe around he said that he wanted to check something… I panicked. That other something was another baby. At first he didn’t answer me. I was trying to look so hard but I just could see any heartbeat. After it change positions, and after the baby flipped over – there is was a very fast heart beat!! At the moment I just couldn’t stop crying. He then measured baby B. She(or He) measured at 2.73cm with the same EDD. I was soo happy that they were both health and the same size. So not only were we pregnant but we were pregnant with twins!!! Wow
On my way home I got a phone call from Khyam. Holding back all the tears I informed him that we were having twins... We both Laughed and Cried!! We were soo excited and truly blessed!!
